Warm Season (Bermuda and Zoysia)

Recommended once yearly in late spring/early summer. This is very important to the overall health of the turf. We use a core plug aerator that pulls the plugs from the turf and allows them to break down back into the soil. We only use walk behind or stand on aerators.

Cool Season (Fescue)

We recommend that most Fescue lawns be reseeded every fall. We use a turf type Fescue blend and core aerate each lawn. An organic material is applied to any bare areas for seed retention.

There are many benefits to core aeration:

Strengthens the turf and helps suppress unwanted weeds.

Speeds up the growth rate of the turf grass that improves the ability to withstand and recover from walking traffic and wear from mowing machines.

Increases the ability of water and fertilizer to penetrate to the grass roots and soil from fertilizer applications, irrigation, and rainfall.

Root growth activity strengthens and improves the overall health of the turf.

Improves the ability of bacteria present in the soil to break down and decompose the thatch layer.

Increases turf ability to withstand low water situations and heat stress.
